Antonia Lembcke is an architect and researcher holding a master’s degree in architecture from Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and a bachelor’s degree from the Technical University of Munich. She is developing her PhD project, ‘Relational Architecture,’ as an associate doctoral researcher at the research training group ‘Urban future-making’. In her doctoral research she explores alternative ways of understanding and practicing architecture through transformation, while taking into account the performativity and relationality of space. She is particularly interested in process-oriented architectures, in- and exclusions, and the (over)writing of stories and their actors through space. Antonia has been part of the research and teaching team of the Urban Design master’s programme at HafenCity University Hamburg since 2022. As a research associate in the Department of Architecture for the Chair of Entwerfen, Raum und Gebäudelehre [design, space, and building theory], she is currently also developing the project ‘soft spots: spaces of collective relevance and urban potential in Hamburg’. In 2019, she cofounded the spätispäti collective in Berlin, which produces space through the activation of collective agencies, artistic practices, and performative actions. spätispäti is concerned with the un-learning of normative building practices and questions the hierarchical and political structures that are manifested in space.
