Socio-spatiality as a methodological lens: Empirical case study of the contemporary social mass housing in India

RE-DWELL Conference, ‘Sustainable living, affordable homes: Meeting the challenge together’, Barcelona, 16–17 May, 2024

This presentation is part of the conference’s interactive session ‘Reimagining housing: Innovative designs for thriving communities’. It demonstrates socio-spatiality as a conceptual framing for approaching a design issue, as part of the argument of integrating the lived experience of social housing’s inhabitants into the technical methodologies of construction professionals, namely architects and civil engineers. It presents the latest findings of empirical work in Pune, India, and aims to stimulate a debate on the reimagination of housing design for communities.
