Shaping the rules: Ruling the shape
Fellowship: Become A Future Change Maker, Copenhagen, 17–21 August 2026
Organizers: Copenhagen Architecture Forum and HouseEurope!
The transition towards circular construction raises questions about how responsibility for building materials is distributed across their life cycles. The fellowship explored these questions through the principle of extended producer responsibility (EPR). Bringing together participants from architecture and law, the programme examined the distance between policy ambitions and implementation through conversations with stakeholders across the construction value chain. Working within the engineering group, I explored engineers’ interests, responsibilities, and constraints, considering what would enable them to support EPR in practice. The fellowship connected an analysis of regulatory and technical barriers with questions of political advocacy, concluding with group presentations and stakeholder discussions on the actors and alliances needed to advance change.
