Doruk Kayalı is an architect with a background in sustainable design, material circularity, and participatory architecture. He holds a master’s degree in architecture and extreme environments from the Royal Danish Academy (2022) and a bachelor’s in architecture from Istanbul Technical University (2019). His academic work spans sustainable design, socio-political spatial analysis, and material innovation. His master’s thesis focused on a design project exploring spatial justice through culturally embedded material systems through on-site experimentations. Professionally, he has contributed to various critical architectural publications, international conferences, and projects ranging from historical renovations to speculative installations. He has also received several awards for innovation and sustainable architecture. His current research uses Hamburg as a case study to examine the integration of reclaimed materials into urban interventions, developing a design-based framework that connects digital fabrication, waste streams, and resource-conscious planning.
