Repairing pipes and fixing plans: The entangled history of Hamburg’s water and energy services

The aim of this conference presentation was to show how maintenance and repair can be a useful conceptual framework to make visible the entanglements of different infrastructural services. Based on initial empirical findings, I exemplified the spatial, temporal, material, and institutional interconnections of the gas and water industry in Hamburg. In doing so, I was able to demonstrate how this perspective brings together different infrastructural temporalities and scales.
