Zayra Castillo is a doctoral researcher at the Institute for Transport Planning and Logistics at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) and a member of the DFG research training group ‘Urban future-making’. Her research focuses on how professionals can more effectively engage communities in rethinking mobility and transforming urban spaces to promote sustainability in the face of climate change. She is particularly interested in how participatory methods can empower radical urban mobility transformations. She holds a master of science in resource efficiency in architecture and planning from HafenCity University Hamburg and a bachelor of architecture from the University of the Valley of Mexico (UVM). Prior to her current position, she worked for two years as a research associate at HafenCity University within the Cluster of Excellence ‘Climate, Climatic Change, and Society’ (CLICCS).
