Tom Hawxwell holds a bachelor of international studies and a bachelor of arts (major: geography, environment, and population) from the University of Adelaide, as well as a master of science in environmental governance from the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg. Before his time at HCU, he worked for the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO) in Stuttgart on applied research at the interface between urban governance, climate change adaptation, and nature-based solutions. His research interests include urban environmental governance, transformations, mobility, and power. He is a co-representative of the Network of Early-career Researchers in Sustainability Transitions (NEST) in the Sustainability Transitions Research Network (STRN) steering group.
