Arjama Mukherjee is an urban planner and researcher with 3 years of experience in BMZ, GIZ, and BMBF-funded projects. After earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture in India, she pursued a double-degree master’s in urban planning at the Polytechnic University of Milan (Polimi), and HafenCity University Hamburg. Her research interests are in the digital transformation of urban planning tools and processes, citizen participation, and civic technology, with a focus on the Global South. She has led and contributed to projects in India, Ecuador, and Palestine – such as the TOSCA India project, where an open-source spatial digital tool was developed for supporting integrated urban planning and digital citizen participation in four Indian cities. In the SURPRISE project, she supported urban reconstruction in Ukrainian cities through digital planning approaches. As the international lead of U-CODE OPUS at TU Dresden, she coordinated 3D digital participation campaigns in Damascus, Nakuru, and Kabul.
