Abolish, accept, apply: Modes of coping with ignorance in project ecologies
How project stakeholders can or should deal with what they do not know before starting a project is a strongly contested issue in the project management literature. What is more, the very existence of ignorance challenges a key idea of project management: that projects render a demarcated period of the future predictable and plannable. The article outlines an analytical framework of, first, different types and modes of coping with ignorance in projects and, second, the spheres through which these modes are channelled from project to project.
